April 20, 2019
It’s been a while, but April 20th, 2019 was the most stressful and planned day of my life so far. It was PROM DAY. First of all, we slept through our alarm, which brought us about an hour behind. Yeah, pure awesomeness... somehow we still made it to the hairdresser on time by 10 am. Sara and I both wanted up-do’s, which took 1 hour each. But at the end, our hairdresser took a bunch of pictures of the hairstyles until we told her that we really gotta go to stay on schedule hahah. On the way...

Monday afternoon we flew from Atlanta to Dulles Airport. Our flight went off without problems and we arrived around 5 pm. Then we Ubered from the airport tomyuncle’shouse.Uberisatransportationservice similar to taxis, just that all communication and payments are made over an app. Also, ordering an Uber is often faster and cheaper than calling a taxi. When we arrived, we had dinner, made a plan for the next day and then we went to bed. Tuesday was our first day in Washington, DC, and we tried...

Happy Spring Break! No school for a week, that’s great! For most students here, Spring Break means party. A lot of my friends are going down to Panama City Beach, Florida. But Sara and I reserved our break for traveling. The first weekend of the break (the past one), our host family took us up to North Carolina to visit my host mom’s brother and his wife. We left Friday after school and arrived - after six hours - around midnight in the mountains of North Carolina. We had to make sure, that...

Welcome back to a new update of my life! Despite the fact that there’s not a lot of news, many things happened in the past month. One of the biggest is probably that my older host sister got married. She decided to have a small wedding party with her closest friends and family. As a venue she picked a cute, small farm in the middle of nowhere. That’s where the picture above was taken. Because we are living in the very South of the United States, there are some customs and traditions here,...

Hello everybody! I think it’s time for a little life update again! I’ve had a lot going on lately so I didn’t really find the time to write a new blog entry. With the new year, we got to pick new classes at school. This semester I’m taking Team Sports (PE), Algebra 2 (Math), Spanish and Chemistry. Fortunately none of these are Freshmen classes, which means that I am able to spend more time with people of my age. Also, swimming season is over, so it was time to try out for a new sport....

Wow! 2018 is over. It feels like I just left Germany and suddenly half of my exchange year here is already over. 2018 has been great! I got to meet a ton of new people, made new friends, and a lot of new memories. Auf, dass es so weitergeht. Welcome, 2019! I spent New Year‘s Eve with a friend and her (huge) family. We all ate together, danced, and then Sara and I stayed the night. The music was really good and it was a lot of fun. At 12 am, we watched the Ball Drop in NYC. In addition we...

Yesterday was a very rainy day. It was more or less the worst weather we could have had for our planned sightseeing tour around New York City. The ferry to the Statue of Liberty didn’t even leave the harbor because it was too windy. So we changed plans and decided to do the major sight seeing spots today. We just visited the 9/11 memorial including the museum and exhibitions. There we first watched a short movie about September 11th 2001 and then we looked at parts of the original twin towers...

What’s up everybody? I’m back at my blog. ;) Yesterday my host sisters (including Sara) and I got up at 2 in the morning to drive to the Atlanta Airport. Then we took a flight to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Here we met my host mom. We were all very tired so we decided to take it easy and just went to a couple of malls to go shopping. One of these was the King of Prussia Mall which is the second biggest mall in the entire country. Later we had lunch at a place called “The Cheesecake...
