Happy Spring Break! No school for a week, that’s great! For most students here, Spring Break means party. A lot of my friends are going down to Panama City Beach, Florida. But Sara and I reserved our break for traveling. The first weekend of the break (the past one), our host family took us up to North Carolina to visit my host mom’s brother and his wife. We left Friday after school and arrived - after six hours - around midnight in the mountains of North Carolina. We had to make sure, that...

Welcome back to a new update of my life! Despite the fact that there’s not a lot of news, many things happened in the past month. One of the biggest is probably that my older host sister got married. She decided to have a small wedding party with her closest friends and family. As a venue she picked a cute, small farm in the middle of nowhere. That’s where the picture above was taken. Because we are living in the very South of the United States, there are some customs and traditions here,...

Hello everybody! I think it’s time for a little life update again! I’ve had a lot going on lately so I didn’t really find the time to write a new blog entry. With the new year, we got to pick new classes at school. This semester I’m taking Team Sports (PE), Algebra 2 (Math), Spanish and Chemistry. Fortunately none of these are Freshmen classes, which means that I am able to spend more time with people of my age. Also, swimming season is over, so it was time to try out for a new sport....

Wow! 2018 is over. It feels like I just left Germany and suddenly half of my exchange year here is already over. 2018 has been great! I got to meet a ton of new people, made new friends, and a lot of new memories. Auf, dass es so weitergeht. Welcome, 2019! I spent New Year‘s Eve with a friend and her (huge) family. We all ate together, danced, and then Sara and I stayed the night. The music was really good and it was a lot of fun. At 12 am, we watched the Ball Drop in NYC. In addition we...

Fröhliche Weihnachten! 🇩🇪 Feliz Navidad! 🇪🇸 Eta urte berri on! 🇧🇮 Today is Christmas Eve. We had lunch with Brittani and her family. Then we went back home and prepared for tonight. Right now we’re wrapping the last presents and writing the last cards. Later we’re going to have dinner with Carmen’s side of the family. Then, the plan is to unwrap one present each tonight, and the rest is for tomorrow morning. Ich wünsche euch allen ein Frohes Fest und schöne...

Yesterday was a very rainy day. It was more or less the worst weather we could have had for our planned sightseeing tour around New York City. The ferry to the Statue of Liberty didn’t even leave the harbor because it was too windy. So we changed plans and decided to do the major sight seeing spots today. We just visited the 9/11 memorial including the museum and exhibitions. There we first watched a short movie about September 11th 2001 and then we looked at parts of the original twin towers...

What’s up everybody? I’m back at my blog. ;) Yesterday my host sisters (including Sara) and I got up at 2 in the morning to drive to the Atlanta Airport. Then we took a flight to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Here we met my host mom. We were all very tired so we decided to take it easy and just went to a couple of malls to go shopping. One of these was the King of Prussia Mall which is the second biggest mall in the entire country. Later we had lunch at a place called “The Cheesecake...

Aaalright... I know it’s been some time since I last posted a blog entry and I don’t even know what the last thing I told you was, but now I have time to give you a little update about my life here. By now I‘m used to my school routine and my everyday life. In the mornings I (try to) get up around 6:30 am, get ready for school and have breakfast. Then around one hour later we leave for school (Paige drives). School starts at 8:00 am here, almost like at my school in Germany. My first...

On Friday, August 3, we did a lot of things. We started the day with some lunch at a barbecue restaurant. After lunch we went to the pool together to refresh because it was really hot. When we had swam enough, the girls wanted to show Sara and me some thing that is really fun anthough it sounds silly, of which neither of us had heard before: MUD RIDING. Since we had a lot of rain the days before, there was a muddy area right behind the house. So we took a quart and started riding it through the...
